Vela Farska is one of the several bays on the southwestern side of Brač Island, and besides the bay, this is how the hamlet of only a couple of houses above the bay is called, too. From an administrative point of view, Vela Farska is part of the village of Nerežišća. As of 2014, the place with its beautiful settings lacks almost all kinds of infrastructure - there is no tap water or electric power lines, electricity is gained through solar panels or generators. There is no grocery in Farska, the nearest small grocery is located in Murvica, more shops in Bol. This part of the coast has one small restaurant, Terasa Ciccio above Divulje Bay.

The coastal line is dotted with stunning bays, where stones rolling down in the valleys and processed by the waves, become gravel and thus create beautiful beaches. The series of beaches start in neighboring Murvica and include Divulje, Planica, Smrčeva Luka, Vela Farska, Mala Farska, Lozna and Blaca around Farska - see our map.

Approaching Vela Farska in 2014 is somewhat a trying venture. The construction of the asphalt road connecting Nerežišća and Vela Farska (from north) took a promising start in 2011, but after that its longest part had been done, at the last, steepest and most critical section the construction has been halted for years. It's expected to be completed in the first half of 2015, until that the narrow macadam road remains Vela Farska's link from north. A safer and wider macadam road starts in Murvica, which, after reaching Vela Farska from east, also ends here - following the completion of the just mentioned northern road, this, eastern road, too, will have its asphalt cover. From west, from the valley of the Blaca Ermitage Farska is accessible on a foot path going along the coast, which, at one location, has a barbed wire to keep the lamb. The most convenient way to come to Farska is, if available, by boat - either from Milna, from Hvar Island or from Bol.

As the asphalt is approaching Vela Farska, the place will most certainly lose its isolation - and with that, Farska might lose part of its ambience, too. To see it in its original beauty one should not delay visiting the place too much.
